Random Thoughts At Random Times.

So, I've always said I can get pretty random. That is life with A.D.H.D though.  One of my big problems is that I get the most random thoughts at the most random times; actually the problem is that usually I say them before I process them and it either comes out not in the way I thought it, or in a manner contrary to one that I would like to represent myself with.  For example, I spontaneously burst into song... usually the stupidest songs that I really don't know the song, just a short line and it might have something (remotely) to do with something that was just said or done by someone else.   Sometimes it causes problems, other times it just makes me look stupid/funny.  Either way, I pray it stops. LOL

One good random thought I had about the Bible, while listening to a sermon, happened today.  This was a great sermon, by one of our most renowned wordsmiths in the UPCI...problem is that I wasn't able to focus on what he was saying any more because a single word or phrase he said sparked my mind into full gear, (the RedBull I was drinking added to that a bit too, I'm sure) and I was focusing on that.   I paused the mp3, and grabbed a pen & pad and started to write the one line that I thought of loosely based on what the preacher said.   Then something happened that many would take for granted, but I am in awe that it ever happens to me....God began to speak to my heart on that topic.  I was glad I still had the pen and notebook, because I was able to write things down.   Now some of the things were for me, and me alone, but some were for others and other situations.  I will share what I can from this experience, but before I do I think I should clarify something.

I am in awe (as in a feeling of reverential respect mixed with fear or wonder:) that the God of creation takes time out...for me.  That I am important enough for Him to have left the heavens to walk amongst us, and to let us fulfill the events of Calvary...just so that we could be free from sin so that we could have a relationship with Him.  I'm not sure where or when I picked up the phrase but it's like I tweeted a little over a month ago "Don't ever lose the 'woe' unto God, else you will lose the 'woah' of God. The Joy of the Lord still comes with the Burden of the Lord."   If we do, we will get to a bitter place that will be a battle to climb out of.  We can make it about ourselves and what we do for Him, (yet still doing it in our names) rather than just living a live in the pursuit of pleasing Him. (this last part will tie-in in just a bit, I promise)

Did I mention I have A.D.H.D.? At any rate, something the preacher on the mp3 said reminded me of the main topic around our church for a little over a month which was unity.  Almost every message perfectly dovetailed together, weaving a powerful message of unity to our local body of believers   It finally clicked with some, and those that haven't been "on board" before are now getting on board.

We have unity, but now what?

The thought I had that kind of had me stumble into a nice blessing was "Unity can be meaningless."

Okay, that doesn't sound like something a Christian, much-less a Minister would ever say; yet bear with me.   Unity means nothing without vision. If you have unity, but nothing to do with that unity, then nothing will happen.  Taking this another step forward, Vision is pointless without prayer.  We can have vision to do something with the unity, but unless it was birthed in prayer it can do more bad than good.

For proof of that, turn to Genesis chapter 11 and begin to read the story that unfolds there. (Okay you don't have to really read it, I'm going to sum it up, but I still support reading the Bible for yourself...its good for you!)    The people that came to the plain in Shinar had unity. But they wanted to make a name for themselves, instead of giving honor to God, they wanted honor for themselves.  They had unity and vision alright, but their vision was not of God; in fact, their expressed intent and purpose was to oppose God.  God took care of the situation, ever heard of the tower of Babel, hmm?

We can make plans, we can have visions and goals, but we need to keep our hearts right in the process.  Otherwise we make our wants and desires become as important or even more important to us as God's Will for us.  We need to pray to be in-line with the Word of God, the Spirit of God and even the Man of God, to guarantee that we are living within the Will of God.  To do this we must make sure that we crucify the flesh....daily... through prayer and reading the Word, also taking time to fast.    Then when we hear from God, not just feel giddy about it, but also obey the word that He spoke through His Spirit, His Word and His messenger.

I wanted to share this message with everyone today.  I don't always share my devotion experiences with others, not even my wife, but today I felt it important to share this part of todays.  Now to mull over, pray about and apply the unwritten message to my life.

Until Next Time,
TRP
